As we enter Charleston harbor the first thing we see is
Fort Sumter sitting out on the south side of the entrance to the harbor.
It is kinda eerie
to think of all that was started right there as we pass by.
up the harbor heading to the south side and the Ashley River.
As we head in towards the river on our right is the battery
and the beautiful antebellum homes along the waterfront.
Upon reaching the harbor we were greeted with the old Charleston
as we pulled into the City Marina we were greeted by the new Charleston.
I hope you can see the fairway leading in between these two rows of boats.
I had to drive our boat down that lane
with the wind and current pushing and pulling.
I was nervous!
Charleston has gone through a resurgence in the last few years
and the marina is a good place to see what
it has meant to the local economy.
Meanwhile, Charleston is still Charleston.
The same sights that I saw as a child
are still there and I think they may have a new coat of paint.
Things look good around the downtown, historic area.
Quintessentially Charleston.
I had to get a haircut and here is the shop we found.
Good job and half the price of in Florida!
Well we are back aboard and doing some work on the boat,
getting ready to head off for three days in Beaufort, South Carolina.
They call this the Megadock and it is just that,
the structure, boats and money all in capital letters.
Charleston is a gem of the south.
After spending as much time as we have in Savannah
it was good to see this town, Savannah's big sister again and it did not disappoint.
Off again in the morning.
